The Inspection

So this Friday was the house inspection. The inspection went about as we had expected. The house needs a new roof, we had figured on that. There is also some electrical issues to take care of and some windows that need to be repaired. But overall things are in ok shape. I have a lot of cleaning and painting to do, prayerfuly before we move in. We have not resigned from out town homes job yet. We may just have Mike be there from Feb to May and the kids and I join him in May. We will see. We will resign after the closing, or after the loan is approved. Any way enough about the transtion, that will come later. As far as the inspection went the main floor of the house has only window problems. We were told the windows could just be puttied and that would take care of the problem. The paint is chipping in many areas and I am worried about lead paint, since this is an older house. So I am giong to investigate painting without sanding and if there is a sealent I can buy to use before I paint. All of the windows need paint. The other rooms could be used without painting, but I think they need a coat of paint to make it nice. The floors are not too bad. I think we will get a rug for the dining room, but the rest of the floors just need a good scrubbing and the carpet tacks removed.

The basement of the house is where there are some issues. The furnace wasnt working but the seller is going to take care of that. There are some pipes that need to be insulated. And there are some electrical issues. So we will learn all about that.

Our next list of Prayer requests are that the appraisal goes well and the loan is approved. We also need to find affordable applainces and have them installed. We also are continuing to pray for our downpayment.

The inspection allowed us to spend a nice day in Marseilles. We visited the Illni Lounge for lunch. We wandered the neighborhood. I have taken some pictures of the character of the town.

The Doctors Office is in the Train Stattion

The Chamber of Commerce is in a Caboose

From Marseilles we went to Ottowa to find the church we plan to attend. We stopped for Coffee at Jerimiah Joes, a Christian Coffee House. We walked around Ottowa and enjoyed the park in with a cool fountain. The kids loved it.

Allison had a blast throwing leaves into the water and walking along the fountain's edge.
